Walleye fishing on all our lakes has been really great for the month of July. Usually it is a little slower during the hot days of July.
Smallmouth bass fishing has turned on in the last three weeks with some great fish caught and released in the lakes.
Biggest muskie caught and released on Unexpected lake was 54″.
Biggest Walleye was 29″ and biggest pike so far to date was 48″.
Largest smallouth was 20″.
There is still lots of time to beat these lengths and the smallmouth fishing is really great during August when they are schooled together and you get multiple fihs biting at the same time.
We’ve had a couple of fish caught and a big pike comes along and bites the fish being pulled in.
Lures that have been working have been crank baits, leech with twistertail, jigs with a leech, spoons for the pike. Also leeches have been outfishing minnows and worms all year long. Typically they work great during hot months and minnows work better May and June.
